Who was Jesus?

But with Jesus Christ comes many things in the minds of people. Some have heard of religion, some remember peace and others tell of stories heard from parents/generations. So, one easy question remains: Who was Jesus Christ?

Religious or not, knowing Jesus' life can shed light on history, religion, kindness and humankind in general. We will examineJesus' life here in a simple and friendly fashion, easy for everybody to grasp.

God became Man and Incarnated himself when Jesus Christ was born.

Jesus Christ was born thousands of years ago in Bethlehem, a town that is located in the modern day country of the Middle East. Christians believe that he was the Son of God who was sent to Earth to bring people to Love, Peace and Truth.

The Bible tells us that Jesus was born in a poor area; commonly depicted as a stable (a small building that housed animals) or small hut for animals. Every year people all over the world celebrate his birthday on Christmas.

Today, people still marvel and envy that Jesus came into the world in a humble home rather than a palace. It brings us to mind that people don't need to be rich or important to be great.

The Birth Of Jesus

The birth of Jesus Christ took place more than 2,000 years ago in a small town in the modern Middle East called Bethlehem. Christians believe that he was also the son of God – God himself, sent to earth to teach us to love, be peaceful and to live in truth.

The Bible states Jesus was born of Mary and Joseph in a lowly place, which is normally depicted as a stable or slightly larger animal shelter. Every year around Christmas his birthday is celebrated in the world.

Today, many people find it praiseworthy that Jesus was born among a simple family, to the exclusion of a royal palace. It is a reminder that great importantness is not about money and prestige.

Jesus as a Teacher

Jesus was a wise teacher from his youth. He went to every village and preached kindness to the people, forgiveness, honesty, helping the poor people.

It was one of the things, that made Jesus special, the simple tract that Jesus used to teach, difficult concepts with parables. He was able to teach even children.

In fact, Jesus said to people to:

Love one another

Forgive enemies

Help the needy

Stay humble

Trust God

Much of his work continues to be taught across the world in churches, schools, books, and motivational speeches.

I had heard of one such story as part of my schooling where it was mentioned that “loving your neighbour” is an important part of society. I initially believed that it was just locals who lived right next door. Later I realized what Jesus was saying was that we must love people, however we don't have to love everyone based on their worth. Now that lesson is still relevant!

Miracles and Healing

Jesus does the miracles are recorded in the Bible. People came to believe that he performed miracles, because he did.

Here are some of the most famous miracles:

Healing sick people

The ability to see is restored to the blind.Blind people are given sight.

Walking on water

Providing thousands of people little food

Calming storms

Christians believe that these miracles demonstrated the might and compassion of Jesus. Other people might interpret them as allegories and parables that impart lessons and messages of faith and hope.

Regardless of his or her religious beliefs, these stories continue to inspire millions worldwide.

Why was Jesus important?

The values taught by Jesus became more important in terms of him becoming important not only because of religion but also because of the values he taught. He kept his message on the issue of love, peace, mercy and equality.

There was a division between rich and poor in the society at that time. There were many who were singled out or mistreated. Jesus went among the people, who were for the most part rejected by society, such as poor, sick and lonely people.

This earned him the admiration of many, but also brought the jealousy of certain high-ranking authorities.

It is a fact that many leaders, writers and workers of the people today refer to the teachings of Jesus in his discourses on humanity and compassion.

The Crucifixion of Jesus

According to Christian belief, Jesus was arrested and sentenced to death by crucifixion, which was a common punishment during that period.

He was nailed to a wooden cross and died in Jerusalem. Christians believe this sacrifice was made for the forgiveness of humanity’s sins.

The cross later became one of the most recognised symbols in the world.

This part of the story is emotional for many believers because Jesus is remembered as someone who chose forgiveness even during suffering.

Resurrection and Christian Belief

After his death, Christians believe that Jesus rose from the dead three days later. This event is called the Resurrection and is celebrated during Easter.

For Christians, the resurrection is the foundation of their faith. It symbolises hope, victory over evil, and eternal life.

The followers of Jesus spread his teachings across different countries, and over time Christianity became one of the largest religions in the world.

Today, churches, schools, hospitals, and charities inspired by Christian teachings can be found almost everywhere.

Jesus Christ in Other Faiths

Many people aren't aware of this, but Jesus is revered during a number of religions other than Christianity.

According to the faith of Christ's followers, Jesus is the Son of God.

Jesus is regarded as significant prophet by Muslims.

Some historians consider him a great spiritual teacher.

Still others are fascinated by his love and philosophy of peace.

This broad acceptance demonstrates the impact of Jesus in the history and culture of humanity.

Lessons We Can Learn from Jesus

The words of Jesus are still relevant in the hustle and bustle of today's world. His life calls us to:

Be kind to others

Forgive mistakes

Stay humble

Help people in need

Show kindness rather than anger

These are basic concepts, but can have a significant impact on everyday life.

At times we feel that big changes can only be done by strong individuals. However, Jesus demonstrated that sometimes doing things little things makes a big difference.

Final Thoughts

Then, who else was Jesus Christ?

He is the Son of God to some. For others, he is a spiritual guide, teacher or historical figure. But the vast majority would agree that Jesus made a tremendous impact on mankind.

His teachings on love, forgiveness and compassion are still fellowships that inspire people across generations and billions.

It's not necessary to be a member of any religion to gain a lesson from his existence. A good word shows itself forever on the lips of the simple, but a profane little word is no longer remembered.
